Physical Therapists

Kevin McHorseKevin McHorse has lived in Austin all of his life and has been practicing physical therapy in Austin since he was licensed in 1999.  He received his Bachelor’s degree from Austin College in Sherman, TX in 1996 and completed a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Southwest Texas State University in 1999.  Since then, Kevin has focused on sports and spine injuries, specifically in the younger population, as he has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education.  In 2002 he completed the process of becoming Certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy of the Spine through the McKenzie Institute of North America.  In 2004 he achieved the status of Board Certified Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy and was named a Diplomat of the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.  Kevin has lectured nationally on the topic of pediatric sports physical therapy and is currently the co-Chair of the Pediatric Sports and Fitness Special Interest Group for the American Physical Therapy Association.  Kevin is particularly interested in injury prevention in the young athlete and enjoys working with young athletes and giving talks to local teams on injury prevention in youth sports.  He and his wife Beth have two young children.

Lauren Whitehouse is a native Austinite.  After getting her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003, she got her Master of Science in Physical Therapy degree from Texas State University-San Marcos in 2006.  She started working in acute care at Seton Medical Center, with her primary focus in critical care.  Her true passion, however, was working with children.  She joined CTPO part time in May 2007 and was thrilled to accept a full time position in October 2007.

Lauren played many sports when she was growing up, but ballet was always her favorite activity.  She studied with Ballet Austin and the Houston Ballet.  Her extensive training in dance has given her a particular interest in treating the dancer population.

Lauren is so excited to be a part of the team at CTPO.  She is currently working on completing the McKenzie courses and hopes to one day become ceritified in the Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy of the Spine.

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys going to Town Lake, yoga, movies, and being with friends and family.
