  • April Perlaza
April Perlaza, PA-C, ATC grew up outside of Birmingham, Alabama and moved to Austin, Texas with her husband in 2009. She grew up playing volleyball and was also a competitive cheerleader. Her interest in pediatric orthopedics began when she would shadow her mother, who is an x-ray tech, in her orthopedic practice. April had knee surgery from a sports injury in high school and also underwent physical therapy. After she recovered, she began observing in the hospital and clinic and learning about orthopedic surgery and physical therapy of young athletes. She started her career as a Certified Athletic Trainer after graduating from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree. She also spent time observing her athletes in the operating room after an injury and thus began her passion for orthopedics. She completed her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at The University of South Alabama in 2008 and worked in adult orthopedics for a short time in Alabama before moving to Austin with her husband, who is also a Head Athletic Trainer at The University of Texas. She has two sons of her own and truly enjoys the fun of interacting with kids and the joy that caring for them brings. She was fortunate to begin her dream job with CTPO in pediatric orthopedics in 2009. She loves treating many types of patients at CTPO, including fractures and sports medicine injuries. She had the incredible live- changing opportunity to help treat patients in Guatemala and provided orthopedic care for amazing children and their families. In her spare time, she enjoys learning Spanish, traveling with her family, trying the delicious foods of Austin, and cheering on the Texas Longhorn and Alabama Crimson Tide football teams.

Hi, my name is Megan Roberts. I love treating kids and broken bones! I am an Austin native, having grown up in North Austin, and attended Westwood High School. I went on to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences at Texas A&M University, Whoop! I then attended the University of Texas Health Science at San Antonio where I became a Physician Assistant. I was the president of my class and a leader for the student-run Refugee Clinic. I started my career at University Hospital in San Antonio, one of the largest Level 1 Trauma centers in South Texas, before relocating to Austin in 2017. I grew up playing with my three siblings in Zilker Park and boating with my family on Lake Travis. I love spending my free time playing outdoors and traveling the world with my friends. I look forward to treating your family and helping you and your child get back to the activities you love too!

  • Taylor Melian
A high school athlete who suffered an ALC injury, not once, but twice (!) Taylor spent a lot of time with the trainer and orthopedist. When she started her undergrad studies at the University of Texas at Austin, athletic training seemed like a natural fit. Working with collegiate athletes from the sidelines gave Taylor a unique perspective on the human body and the most common of orthopedic injuries – those caused by overuse. Deciding to pursue her studies further, Taylor went on to complete her PA studies at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley before returning to the Austin area. Taylor joined CTPO in 2016. As both an Athletic Trainer and a PA specializing in orthopedics, Taylor knows a lot about the experience of student athletes. From helping parents and kids prevent overuse injuries to working to get patients back on the field or track after an injury, Taylor is with our patients every step of the way. While she sympathizes with patients who want to get back to activity ASAP, she is a huge supporter of rest and rehab, especially when it comes to overcoming overuse injuries. She recommends parents and student athletes follow CTPO’s return to activity protocols to help get back to activity in a healthy, long-term way. When she’s not working with our patients, Taylor is a travel buff! She’s covered Toronto, Seattle, Hawaii and is soon off to Europe! A sports and music fan, Taylor can be found locally at a UT football game, a Spurs game or a local music festival.

Brittany loves helping our patients get back to playing and feeling like kids again! She's a team player and loves how we get to talk to the kids on their level. According to Brittany we have the best team of Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioner, and nurses (ok, so we're a bit biased!). Everyone really comes together to make CTPO a positive, trusting environment. That's her favorite part of CTPO - doing what she loves with other professionals she respects! When she's not helping patients, Brittany loves to spend time with her young son. She loves watching his curiosity blossom as he discovers the world around him. She's also a world traveler and makes videos. Brittany loves scuba diving, yoga, church and eating sweets.
