Every year, Dell Medical School recognizes faculty and residents who demonstrate evidence of exceptional work in teaching, across the diverse spectrum of learners we serve – medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing clinicians in our clinical environments, with Dell Med Teaching Awards.
These awards recognize different aspects of the teaching skills that align with our mission and values, including direct teaching, creating a positive learning environment, teaching health equity, innovations in education and others. This year, faculty and residents in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care comprised a significant portion of the recipients of these important awards, reflecting their outstanding contributions to our education programs and the recognition of their work by of the learners, who in many instances were the source of the nominations and supporting evidence.
Award recipients include Dr. Catherine Sargent, Dr. Hilton Gottschalk, Dr. Chris Souder and Dr. Brian Kaufman.
